7th Floor Media at Simon Fraser University Launches New Web site for the New Year.
VANCOUVER January 31, 2008
The creative and technical team at 7th Floor Media have given their own Web site a facelift, which brings the site in line with Simon Fraser University's new logo and brand. Since 1987, 7th Floor Media has garnered a national and international reputation for the development and prototyping of outstanding new media applications for education and culture. The newly designed Web site at 7thfloormedia.com is easy to navigate and allows partners and clients to see the range and depth of 7th Floor Media's work and achievements.
The site is divided into three main sections entitled: What we do, 7FM advantages, and Since 1987. What we do clearly describes the range of work and experience providing samples related to Development and Prototyping, Needs Assessment, and New Media consulting. 7FM advantages outlines the expertise and experience of the in-house team of world-class designers, writers, programmers and educational experts. The section also underlines the relationship between 7th Floor Media and the University. In addition to 7th Floor Media's internal resources, 7th Floor Media has access to the University's extensive audio and video production facilities, resource libraries, and top academic subject experts. Since 1987 presents a timeline for 7th Floor Media from its beginnings to present day, highlighting 7th Floor Media's over twenty-year history of using emerging technologies to create interactive and compelling user experiences for all audiences. Take a stroll down technological memory lane as you learn about the team's early forays into laserdisc and CD-ROM projects and projects that connected youth using the Internet long before today's Web existed and before 1993 when 7th Floor Media set up the first Web server in Canada.
Designing the site to conform to the new SFU brand gave the team at 7th Floor Media the chance to clarify its close relationship with the University and reflect on its contributions to the field of New Media. Julie Zilber, Co-Director explains that "redesigning our own site was a tremendous opportunity to revisit our accomplishments over our long history. In an industry once dominated by start-up firms and inflated dot com companies, our commitment to experimenting with new technologies ever mindful that the goal is to create engaging, content-rich, interactive user experiences has stood the test of time." Co-Director, Noni Maté is also pleased with the new Web site saying, "It is an elegant and lively design, which showcases our achievements. Its launch is a great start to the New Year."
