7th Floor Media gives a fresh look to Encounters with Canada
VANCOUVER August 31, 2006
Encounters with Canada, the widely-acclaimed youth program, has a new look online today and future developments will offer more opportunities for connections between kids from across Canada. The program, now renamed Historica Encounters, will continue to offer young Canadians a special opportunity to learn about the country, its institutions and each other. As the Historica Foundation assumes leadership of the program it will mark its 25th year of activity in 2007, and has welcomed 73,000 high school students, aged 14 - 17, since it began.
"The longevity of Encounters and the number of young people it has touched are a vivid illustration of its value. Historica will build on those foundations as it assumes the direction of Canada's premier citizenship program," said the Chair of the Historica Board, Mr. Avi Bennett.
"7th Floor Media is excited to be part of this ongoing initiative," says Noni Mate, Director of 7th Floor Media. "We have a long history of innovative programming for youth and look forward to working with Historica to expand the online possibilities for Historica Encounters."
