Haida Heritage Centre

The Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre in Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) celebrates Haida culture in a dramatic new building. Part of the centre has been designed to illustrate the natural environment of the islands and the work of Parks Canada in preserving that environment and the Haida heritage sites of the region. 7th Floor Media has adapted four interactivities first created for the Marine Discovery Centre for the exhibit.

National Parks and National Historic Sites take visitors on a tour of selected sites around the country. The Panorama Zoom interactivity lets them visit locations around Haida Gwaii in 360 degree panoramas on a large plasma screen and touch areas for detailed information. The Tide pool interactivity invites visitors to touch the creatures in a simulated tide pool, where they come alive and reveal their identities and facts about themselves, including their Haida names. The Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre in Skidegate is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2008.
